There were two different designers/engravers for the American Silver Eagles.
The obverse (front) designer was Adolph A. Weinman, which shows Walking Lady Liberty
in all of Her Glory.
This design was originally used on Weinman’s Walking Liberty Half Dollar,
which produced by the Mint from 1916-1947.
Weinman also designed the Mercury dime.
Wienman studied at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in Manhattan, NY
along with another famous designer, Augustus St. Gaudens.
The reverse (back) designer was John Mercanti
which shows the Heraldic Bald Eagle with a Shield.
